If you have the chance to be in the beautiful city of San Francisco, you can not miss the current exhibition of Spoke Art: the gallery presents “KUBRICK – An art show tribute to the films of Stanley Kubrick”. In this exhibition, over 60 artists were invited to re-invent their favorite characters, scenes and thematics from Kubrick, one of the world’s most prolific directors. From paintings to sculpture and prints, the show is a tribute to Kubrick, reinterpreting his impact in a contemporary context.
Everybody knows who is Stanley Kubrick. A Clockwork Orange, Full Metal Jacket, The Shining are only some of the masterpieces that the American director bequeathed to the 20th century, dealing with humanity, morality and social justice. Extreme violence, salaciousness and deranged psychological behavior were commonplace motifs instrumented to establish Kubrick’s pessimistic undertones.
For this show, all the artists were allowed to select the film of their choosing, and there were only one: feel free to re-interpret and Kubrick’s world. You can visit it until September 27th.
